For the love of illustration, October is a wow month! There’s Inktober (http://mrjakeparker.com/inktober) and Swaptober, two splendid causes that leave you drooling and begging for more. So much, in fact, you just might wish the other months didn’t exist.

Inktober is an inspiring challenge that has artists drawing and posting up sketches throughout the month. This is similar to Collyde Prime’s 50DaysOfCharacterSketch initiative from last year. It was started by Jake Parker in 2009, as a challenge  in his own words,

to improve my inking skills and develop positive drawing habits. It has since grown into a worldwide endeavor with thousands of artists taking on the challenge every year. Anyone can do InkTober, just pick up a pen and start drawing.

The challenge sees artists from all over the world putting in extra work to sharpen their skills and have fun at it, by inking and posting new work, every day!

The fun and adventurous Swaptober is much like Inktober with just one requirement: swap out the genders of your favourite characters. So instead of say, Guardian Prime as a guy, you get Guardian Prime as a lady. Or the beautiful Agatha from Agbaraa as a guy. It was started by the awesome Marcus Williams and is a fun, alternative take on established characters.

Awesome month right?
